Benefit from the ABEG®-QuickFinder close [X]
TheABEG®-QuickFinder is the first selection software for roller bearings which takes into account both technical and economic factors.

The heart of the QuickFinder is the calculation of roller bearings according to the ABEG® procedure. The ABEG®  working life calculation is based on the extended working life theory, which is described in DIN ISO 281 Bbl.2 and DIN ISO 281/A1 and DIN ISO 281/A2. The standards describe how manufacturing conditions, stresses in the material during heat treatment and various material qualities affect the working life of a roller bearing. On the basis of a system consideration, the coefficients aABEG for the extended working life calculation can be determined for the ABEG® product lines Premium, Supra, Eco and Easyroll.  The relevant coefficient of the product line is used by the ABEG®-Quickfinder for the calculation of the working life of a bearing type.

Always “on the ball” instead of special solutions close [X]
For roller bearing applications with special requirements under extreme operating conditions there are now products available which have not existed with these characteristics until now: high-performance, durable, at the same time economical and available at short notice. These products in the ABEG eXtreme series can be obtained from now on from Findling Waelzlager GmbH, Karlsruhe.

High loads or speeds, stable temperatures or special purity criteria – in certain fields of application roller bearings have to overcome extreme operating conditions. If the longest possible service life is required at the same time, the search for the right products usually ends up with expensive premium or special bearings which are difficult to obtain. By maintaining the high level of performance and fulfilling the minimum service life requirements of premium products, Findling has also taken into account the aspects of procurement costs and delivery periods whilst developing its ABEG eXtreme series. As a result, the company has succeeded in creating a completely advantageous solution for specific areas of application with special requirements, which entirely meets the needs and specifications of the application concerned.

The “Fantastic Four” for every discipline

This new technical solution is divided into four series: Xforce, Xspeed, Xtemp and Xclean. This covers the different requirements with regard to operating conditions: Xforce-type bearings are the solution for heavy-duty applications which require high load ratings; while developing the Xspeed series, on the other hand, the main focus was on extremely high rpm for high-speed applications. The Xtemp series is designed for stable temperatures under extremely hot or cold conditions whereas the Xclean series features robust bearing technology for wash-down applications as well as special designs for clean-room applications. All series have one thing in common: above-average service life of the products for operation under extreme conditions. Furthermore, increased energy efficiency, good sealing properties and improved corrosion protection were taken into account during the development phase of each series. Since the ABEG method basically stands for technologically and economically optimal solutions, these products are far more cost-effective than the corresponding premium or special bearings. Proven bearing technology combined with optimization: The service life of products was significantly extended by modifying the specific service-life equipment components: lubrication and seals. Different types of sealing solutions with special lubrication from the ABEG  portfolio were tested on Findling’s roller ball test stand, thus allowing determination of particularly efficient combinations for the ABEG eXtreme series and/or the relevant field of application. Evaluation of the service life and comparative tests of selected types performed on the power test stand showed that the service life of the new bearings for heavy-duty applications was at least three times higher than those in the premium reference class.

Xspeed: Marathon runners at top speed close [X]
Thanks to in-house development of the ABEG eXtreme series Findling Waelzlager GmbH, Karlsruhe, offers their own particularly durable deep-groove ball bearings for high-speed applications. Longer service lives can be attained, for example, as a result of the significantly low self-heat generation of the bearing.

Products in the Xspeed series are available and designed for applications such as electric motors, pumps and compressors, ventilators, rotary encoders, air-conditioning units, household appliances and office technology. These are based on tried and tested standard deep-groove ball bearings in the super precision range. The equipment components, lubrication and seals, relevant to the service life of the products, have been precisely optimized to meet the requirements of high-speed applications. This also applies to standard structural elements so that with high-performance bearings there are no high costs or long delivery periods involved. Since the running characteristics play a particularly important role in this segment, Xspeed bearings satisfy the extremely high demands as to the surface quality and profile of the bearing tracks. They are manufactured in the tolerance class P6 with utmost precision and a high degree of concentricity. The bearing clearance can be adapted to the high speeds by narrowing the tolerance. This allows for optional adjustment of the residual bearing clearance by selecting the corresponding casing and shaft fits.

Excellently suited for top speeds

A special, highly purified, viscous and low-noise lubrication with excellent start-up performance qualities ensures optimum operating conditions at top speeds. High-performance grease is used for a temperature range of -40 to +150 °C. Bearings with a clearance of C3 are fitted with an extremely purified high-temperature grease suitable for temperatures of up to +180 °C. The optimal operating temperature can therefore be increased once again: It has a service life of over 750 hours even at +177 °C according to ASTM D 3336. In this application range the self-heating generation of the bearing plays an important role because it modifies the characteristics and thus the performance of the lubricant. However, the heat factor can be reduced by using the correct sealing. Outstanding results were achieved with the sealing variant 2RSDD (groove runways on both sides, axially fitted grinding rubber seal): In comparison with an RS standard seal the self-heating generation can be reduced by 10 °C which directly influences the service life of the bearing. A low-friction (2RW) and a contact-free variant (LLB) are available as further options. The service life and comparative tests with selected types on the bearing performance test stand have shown that the actual service life of Xspeed-type bearings is up to 50 per cent higher than the reference values for premium bearings. In the noise test, the vibration acceleration was significantly lower and, moreover, the operating temperature was considerably lower under the same performance parameters.

Xforce: No burden with heavy loads close [X]
The Findling Waelzlager GmbH from Karlsruhe, Germany offers with Xforce-type bearings highly resilient products with an above-average service life from its own development. In contrast to existing comparable solutions this durable high-performance bearings excel also by optimal supply terms and delivery periods.

Xforce is one of four products in the ABEG eXtreme series and was designed for heavy-duty applications. The bearings are tailor made for heavy-duty cranes and crane systems, other warehouses, conveyor and heavy-duty technology as well as construction machineries and/or off-road vehicles. In order to be able to offer the longest possible service life and a high lifting capacity, Findling concentrated on the equipment components, lubrications and seals, which are relevant for these aspects.

The dream team for extremely hard work

Different types of sealing solutions with special lubrication from various manufacturers from the ABEG portfolio were tested on Findling’s bearing performance test stand to determine the particularly efficient combinations for heavy-duty applications. Thus for example, the service life development of a Supra deep groove ball bearing 6010-ZZ was tested with modified lubrication at constant speed and increasing load. The result: At a radial power of 2,000 Newton the service life of the Xforce bearing increased fourfold compared with that of a standard premium bearing (see chart 1). Replacement of a standard bearing not only results in a longer service life under the same application conditions but enhances the safety level, especially if a crane is to be loaded above the maximum weight specified.

A high level of operational safety must be guaranteed also at increasing rpm, for example, when the traversing speed increases. This is why the development of the service life was analysed at a constant load but at an increasing speed level. Here, the duration of the service life of the ABEG Supra Xforce bearing was always above that of the standard premium bearing. Furthermore the lubricating film of the Supra Xforce bearing developed perfectly even at a speed of 350 rpm whereas a standard premium bearing reached its optimum level at considerably higher speeds which are untypical for heavy-duty applications. These results in heavy-duty applications were achieved using a special lubricant which is based on Lithium 12-hydroxystearate and high-class, age-resistant mineral oil and heavy-duty additives (EP additives). Wear-reducing properties and excellent protection against corrosion are further advantages. In addition to the lubrication, further components relevant to the service life of the roller bearing construction are the seals. Particularly, high-performance 2RSDD seals (double-lip seals, guided in grooves on both sides) can be used optimally in combination with the lubrication mentioned above. They provide the urgently necessary protection against contamination on the inside of the bearing and reliably retain the lubrication.
