Successful certification in accordance with the new DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 standards
“Since the beginning of our certification in May 2012, we have passed all tests without any complaints,” comments Klaus Findling, Findling Wälzlager GmbH’s Managing Director. “This highlights the fact that we are at an extremely high level when it comes to quality and environmental management. This also made it easier for us to implement the new, somewhat more demanding standards.” Even though the certificates based on the old standards only expire in 2018, Findling Wälzlager has already gone through the complex test process and is one of the first companies in the roller bearing industry to do so. “Our supplier reviews also demonstrate the outstanding progress we’ve made in terms of quality and reliability. In 2016, for example, aside from a single AB- rating, we exclusively got A- ratings from our customers,” says Klaus Findling. “The successful initial certification in accordance with the new standards is a signal to our customers that they have a first-class partner at their side in Findling Wälzlager.”
Certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 or 14001:2015 increasingly requires measures for process assurance. “The goal of this is for companies to be aware of the risks and take measures to adequately handle these risks,” explains Wolfgang Frey, an engineer who supports Findling Wälzlager GmbH with certification as a scientific and technical management system consultant and also acts as an external environmental management officer. “Findling Wälzlager is extremely well-positioned in this area anyway.” For example, the processes in order processing are completely reliable from an IT perspective. Paperless picking is also fully implemented at this point. These measures combined with end-to-end quality assurance for products – among other things with a highly modern, optical/tactile 3D measuring machine – result in an extremely low error and complaint rate.
In the area of environmental management, a thermographic measurement of the company building attracted particularly positive attention. It allowed heat losses to be detected and prevented. To save energy, all lighting was switched to LED technology. The gigantic solar array on the warehouse roofs, which was put into operation in 2010, continues to be a further highlight. Every year it generates about 230,000 kWh of electricity. Much more than what the company itself needs. Klaus Findling is therefore thinking about introducing a program to support company employees in switching to electric cars for their commute. The charging station would be operated using green energy “from the roof.” “We generally put a lot of emphasis on quality and sustainability. Of course, this also applies to our product range, but is also a recurring theme throughout our entire company strategy,” concludes Findling.
