Roller bearings in medical technology
Roller bearings in medical technology have to meet very particular requirements. Operating at very high speeds while staying quiet, maintaining high durability, and resisting typical hygiene treatments and aggressive environments – these are just some of the challenges faced in medical technology, analytics, pharmaceutics, surgery or dental medicine. In Findling’s comprehensive portfolio, every customer will find the rolling bearing that fits their needs at an optimum price/performance ratio.
ABEG® in medical technology
From simple swivel casters and drawer systems to swivel arms, monitor holders and safety-relevant hose pumps. Medical technology has a very broad spectrum of requirements, which are subject to very high quality standards. ABEG® allows design engineers to choose the performance class they need. At the same time, our auditing procedures and complete quality management ensure that products are safe. This is regularly confirmed in our success rate, sampling, and the associated service life tests. This is another bonus for ABEG® in times where the time-to-market, i.e. the time from a product idea to the start of series production, is getting shorter and shorter.
Product recommendations for medical technology
Spherical plain bearings in mobile OP tables
In the case of customer-specific requirements, customized bearing technology is often required. A customer in the field of surgery asked for advice on choosing the right bearing technology. The proven ABEG® method results in an optimum design for the roller bearing technology in mobile operating tables:
> Spherical plain bearings
> Double-row angular contact ball bearings

Double-row angular contact ball bearings are also installed in the rollers of the mobile operating tables.
Ball bearings in stair lifts
Another customer manufacturers multi-stage transmissions for use in stair lifts. This means that a wide variety of requirements are placed on the ball bearings used because the bearings are exposed to different conditions in the various stages of the transmission. The bearings used in the first stage of the transmission must be able to handle a high input speed of 5,500 rpm.
Miniature deep-groove ball bearings
Low noise levels play an especially big role in the medical field when it comes to reducing patient stress and allowing medical staff to stay concentrated. Finding the right lubricant for lifetime lubrication is not a trivial task if you look at the variety of adjusting screws. Errors can lead to premature failure here too. For example, only a lubricant change in an eccentric bearing of an inhalation device’s atomizer was able to ensure the desired service life. More information can be found on our lubricants product page.
ABEG® eXtreme series
Findling Wälzlager’s special product range is divided into four series: Xforce, Xspeed, Xtemp, and Xclean. This allows different requirements to be met with respect to operating conditions. Xforce bearings are solutions for high loads at low rotation speeds in which there are unfavorable tribological conditions and lubrication film build-up cannot reliably occur with standard solutions. During the development of the Xspeed series, on the other hand, high speeds and energy efficiency were the focus. The Xtemp series ensures temperature stability in excessively hot or cold conditions. The Xclean series provides robust bearing technology for corrosive ambient conditions as well as special designs for clean room applications.
