Findling Wälzlager is once again Knorr-Bremse’s preferred supplier

As the world’s leading manufacturer of braking systems for railway and utility vehicles, Knorr-Bremse has once again named Findling Wälzlager GmbH its “preferred supplier.” The partnership between the two companies is currently focusing on the global procurement of high-quality roller bearing technology. Knorr-Bremse uses Findling’s roller bearings in a series of applications involving rail transport systems, and the scope of delivery is steadily increasing.

As part of the program to further develop global procurement and international sourcing, we are, as of 2018, capable of serving our customers’ plants via a new logistics hub in Shanghai, not just within China but around the world too,” says Klaus Findling, Findling Wälzlager’s Managing Director. “This is especially very relevant for globally active corporations such as Knorr-Bremse. It would allow the entire supply chain to be developed, controlled and ensured from Europe.”

Knorr-Bremse uses Findling’s roller bearings in a series of applications involving rail transport systems, and the scope of delivery is steadily increasing. The roller bearing experts from Karlsruhe also take on the tasks of designing special parts, supplying development samples and providing technical support for design departments. The “Preferred Supplier” certificate is awarded as part of Knorr-Bremse’s annual supplier evaluation. Factors such as quality, flexibility, reliability and innovation play a role here.

Of course, all of Findling Wälzlager’s customers can take advantage of the global procurement services. As part of the global quality management, Findling is responsible for supplier searches, pre-auditing, validation, and full and process auditing. The customer can therefore access an industry-specific expertise in roller bearing production that can only be found at a very small number of companies. Findling’s assignment to support the procurement process on the customer side usually starts with the technical feasibility analysis. Other service modules may include supplier auditing and benchmarking, series start-up and quality assurance follow-up measures, each based on precisely designed performance criteria and indicators. Procurement projects thus become a transparent and secure process. As a logical consequence, customers want globally uniform delivery of validated products, which now no longer faces any barriers thanks to the new logistics hub in Shanghai.
